The Wild Geese

Qld Raceway Sep 18

Sunday last saw a few Geese headed south to the Races. Rob was not able to go the distance as home duties called. Even so, a short ride with Mick, Steve, Shaun, Chris, found the ride across the hills from Mapleton to Bald Knob just right. Josef arrived at the Cafe' to drool but not to ride. Rob

After Rob left us at the beginning of the Bald Knob road we headed out through Kilcoy, past Somerset and Wivenhoe dams to Fernvale for smoko, then along the highways around Ipswich to the track to enjoy a day of motorcycle action, both on and off the track. For off-track action, see below! The ride home was uneventful save for a the top box parting from one bike. Thankfully it was not Josef's again (3 times and you're out) as BMW were getting a bit suspicious about that black Adventure and the gear falling off it! We were home after dark, and bikes and riders were thoroughly covered in dead flies.

The story behind these photos: Mick decided to see just how many k's he could get out of a rear tyre on the ST, and it was fewer than he hoped. By the time we got to Willowbank the steel carcase was starting to show through what was left of the rubber. Mick's bike now carries a full-sports rear courtesy of a track-side supplier of Dunlop rubber.

The :) faces suggest that you all had a great day and there's no evidence of any flies on you. Rob
