Jags New England Jaunt
Well, had a great journey down south! Meandered our way via Esk, Gatton, Clifton, Rendon , Warwick with the first stop at O'Maras hotel in Stanthorpe.
My riding buddy Lex (riding an 1100 Moto Guzzi) and I both had a very scary moment on an intersection just out of Gatton where we both found the "oil patch" which made him lose the back end of his bike and in turn made me lose the front end and some of the back end. Don't ask me how we stayed upright but that is motorbiking.
Had a great night at O'Maras pub and as it turns out the publican "Bob" is a BMW owner as well as a couple of other breeds. He has one for sale but will make another entry re that one.
So onward from there bright and early to Tenterfield, Casino, Sth Grafton, Nana Glen, Coramba, Dorrigo, down to Taree with the second stop at a Pub in Wingham. Onwards from there to Gloucester for brecky and up the Thunderbolts way to Walcha, Uralla, Bundarra, Inverell, Bonshaw and to Texas for a well deserved rest at the pub there.
Next morning to Inglewood for some brecky and at Millmeran we parted company and I continued to Cecil Plain and Dalby for lunch with some friends. Then on to Nanango for afternoon tea with the inlaws then home via Goomeri, Kilkivan and Gympie.
So apart from the oil episode only a few animal moments (foxes and roos). Great riding with only about 200km of highway work. The pub stays were good albeit a bit on the smoky side but for $20 per night one really shouldn't complain. I guess this ride was about being on the bike for most of the day but that is really what I enjoyed about it most because NSW had school holidays we took it steady which meant that we enjoyed the scenery.
There's some brilliant country to see both in NSW and in QLD. C U on a ride soon
