Coastline Motorrad Christmas Ride
We all turned up as directed by Jim Peters and after a chat set off of on the Coastline Motorrad 05 Christmas Ride. Some new and some old faces in the crowd and some there just to see us off was a nice touch.
The well planned briefing by Jim must have gone right through Neil's head without stopping as when Rob & Gizmo followed him up the Nicklin Way, they found themselves off on a Wild Geese Chase, separated from the bunch. (Gizmo is starting to get a complex). It all became perfectly clear when Neil was seen cruising the Bruce Highway on the new R1200RT.
After a few kilometres watching (more like drooling) over the RT as it went, the three arrived at the Coolum roundabout where Rob did several laps whilst the other two left him there to his own devices.
Finally everyone magically materialised in Kenilworth before setting off to the hills via Eastern Mary Valley Road. BJ Portman narrowly missed being collected by a wayward bike (not a beemer) which was having difficulty avoiding the rear of a stationary car at Conondale. (Just swerve over the wrong side of the road mate and all will be well.DH!!).
Much to the amusement of some, Shaun on his R1150RS, managed to perform some interesting manoeuvres just before the bridge coming into the town. (Shaun, bridges are for just that, they bridge one bank of the river to the other one and you actually ride across them. Clever idea)
Rob & Josef took the "pushy" Flying Scotsman for a short cut up Postman's Track to meet the main bunch on Stanley River Road but eagerly turned off again to Bellthorpe to meet them at Peachester, only to pass then coming the other way, (gets confusing sometimes).
JAG and a few others were disappointed as there were no markers in Maleny and a smaller bunch got separated, as the main bunch picked up a couple of others when they flew through Beerwah.(This is starting to sound weird now. Talk about 3 degrees of separation!!).
All was not lost however, as this turned out very well with a good possie being attained early at Penny Farthings for lunch when everyone finally got back together to partake of the lovely watercress sandwiches and lashings of ginger beer kindly provided by BMW, our Sponsor and Recipient of our hard earned dosh.
(Would you believe I can't find the group pic. Later. Here's one of our happy bunch which I prepared ealier, like months ago. Rob)
Our sincere thanks to Neil, Alister, Mark & All the Great Staff at Coastline Motorrad for their efforts in assiting us to enjoy our sport, hobbie, pastime & the sheer pleasure of riding the finest motorcycles in the world today. May we all have many more years of good fun & memorable rides together.
